To prioritize the health and safety of students, teachers, and school personnel, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Cindi King Chan, in consultation with the City’s Disaster Council, has extended the suspension of face-to-face classes for Friday, July 10, 2026.
The decision was made to minimize exposure to volcanic ashfall, which may pose health risks, and to allow schools and the local government sufficient time to conduct clean-up operations. During the suspension, schools are advised to continue learning through modular and asynchronous learning modalities to ensure that students’ education remains uninterrupted.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to keep children indoors and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities. The public is likewise advised to postpone outdoor practices, sports activities, dance rehearsals, and other similar events until air quality conditions improve.
Residents are reminded to stay updated by following official government announcements and to continue observing necessary health and safety precautions during the ashfall.
